Treadmill Vs. Elliptical Machine

Ever since the treadmill was introduced to the world in the 1960′s it took workouts to a whole new level. That was until the elliptical trainer was introduced in the 1990′s. Although they are both used for indoor aerobic exercises and cardiovascular workouts, the question is how do they really stack up against each other in performance.

The elliptical trainer is considered to be minimal impact exercise machine with an intermediate range of leg motion, falling in the range between a treadmill and a stationary bicycle. It is considered minimal impact because when using the machine your feet never come off the pedals eliminating the impact on the ground. These machines work great for someone with knee or joint disorders.

Don’t Be Fooled By Fooled By The Hype!

You are beginning to see a lot of home grade treadmills out on the market that are being called ‘Commercial Grade Treadmills‘, and this just isn’t the case.  Don’t buy into the marketing gimmick and pay the higher prices of commercial grade for just an ordinary home grade treadmill.

First of all there are 2 main categories: commercial and home treadmills, and commercial machines differ from home units in that they are made for harsher environments, like the gym or health club, and they are built to withstand frequent use. Because, of this they are built with a much higher grade of components and subsequently cost more.
